As with so many great spiritual stories, Bliss and Grit began in a hot tub on a Miami rooftop...
Brooke Thomas and Vanessa Scotto met in 2003 in Brooklyn when Brooke was looking for an office to rent and happened upon Vanessa's wellness center. They were fortunate to practice together and live in that fine city for a number of years. Eventually, the winds of change blew them around the country (Brooke to Connecticut, Vanessa to Austin by way of San Francisco and Miami), but their friendship and love of leaning in to life's trickier spaces kept the conversation going.
On one visit that Brooke made to Vanessa's then-home in Miami inspiration struck, you guessed it, while chatting in a rooftop hot tub. (Because they are crazy glamorous like that. So, so fucking glamorous...) Brooke was particularly mired in some personal wreckage, and so the conversation got to that sweet spot that they always found themselves in; Questions about why we suffer, how do we "de-program" ourselves from our own conditioning really, and what does genuine healing look like? While talking some wiser angel (one could just call it awareness) whispered in Brooke's ear, "This. Just this. Just you two talking and not having all the answers. There is magic in it." Sure that sounds woo-woo but this is a spiritual show so sometimes shit gets weird.
After that visit they encouraged one another along in their paths, went on retreats and trainings together, and talked frequently about the unfolding process and what that meant to them. Eventually, the wise hot tub angel was heeded and they decided to dive in and start a show together where they just talked like two regular humans who don't have any answers. Thus far this co-exploring in public has brought together a tribe of genuine soul ninja-warriors (and we are so grateful to all of you for listening) and has also given us the chance to deepen our own practices and to connect our own ever-unfolding dots.

Brooke Thomas has been in practice as a manual therapist (Rolfing practitioner) and movement educator since 2000. She is also the creator of the Liberated Body podcast. Her work is devoted to uncovering and celebrating how truly wondrous our bodies are; These gorgeous organisms that connect us to our deepest clarity, our world, and each other.
Brooke came to embodiment after growing up with physical and neurological challenges related to a birth injury. This made her body an uncomfortable place to be, and therefore one that was convenient to ignore until a health crisis in her early 20's challenged her to heal.
Since coming home to her body, Brooke has discovered that there is so much more than simply "feeling better", and that cultivating a relationship with the body can allow one's whole life to unfold in a more clear and alive way.

Vanessa believes that the most effective path we can walk to recover more wholeness, ease, and peace of mind combines psychological healing with an embodied meditation practice.
What Vanessa is most proud of in her life is having courage to face her own fears and conditioning to find more truth, freedom, and comfort with silence.
